The Southgate Club

Welcome to the Southgate Club, N14

Originally founded in 1851 as the Southgate Reading Room and Library, in 1932 it became the Southgate Social Club. Founder members included famous Southgate residents such as James Baird, John Miles and Robert Blagden. The club was also headquarters of the Southgate Cycle Club.

The Southgate Club

The Southgate Club is presently a thriving place for members to meet, drink at reasonable prices and watch sporting events on the big screen in the bar. There are two snooker tables and a dartboard, and competitions are held throughout the year. Exhibition matches have been held at the club, featuring world champions Alex Higgins, Dennis Taylor and UK champion Doug Mountjoy.

The club has a golf society which has meetings throughout the year at local courses.

There is a 200sq metre function hall with bar and stage where social events are held in the evenings. Recent events have included live entertainment, quiz nights, disco and casino evenings. The hall is available for hire.

Forthcoming events are listed on the member's section. Applications for membership are invited.
